Romeo Lavia is doubtful for Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Luton Town on Saturday afternoon.

The 19-year-old made his Chelsea debut during their 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday night as the Blues reclaimed 10th place.

Lavia came on in the 58th minute at Stamford Bridge and made a positive impression following his summer arrival from Southampton.

The teenager has been absent following a knee injury shortly after his signing and Mauricio Pochettino had to remain patient before bringing Lavia into the midfield fold, which has been hit by availability problems in recent weeks due to illness, injuries and suspensions.

Lavia was seen being comforted by Pochettino and his teammates at full-time, with Nathan Gissing reporting that it was a thigh problem.

He was also limping off down the tunnel as Robert Sanchez and Ben Chilwell both greeted the team off the pitch before they headed into the home dressing room.

Pochettino was quizzed on the Belgian’s fitness and hopes his worries can be alleviated ahead of their league meeting against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Saturday.

“A little bit worried about Lavia,” responded Pochettino in his post-match interview with Chelsea’s in-house media. “He finished with some issues. I hope that it’s not a big issue.”
