Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s proposed transfer to AC Milan could be off this summer, according to reports.

The 27-year-old has been in talks to join the Rossoneri in recent weeks and a £15 million looked closed to being agreed, with the Chelsea midfielder appearing to wave goodbye to Stamford Bridge on the final day of the 2022/23 Premier League season at the end of May.

Discussions were ongoing over a £15 million switch to Italy, but a key decision by the Milan hierarchy has changed things considerably. A call was made to fire directors Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara, who were in charge of the negotiations for Loftus-Cheek, leaving the Englishman’s future unclear.

Now, as reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, AC Milan’s move for Loftus-Cheek has ‘suffered a slowdown’ due to him not convincing the Rossoneri management because of an investment issue regarding his age

Milan are instead making a swoop for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Daichi Kamada, 23, who is available on a free transfer this summer.

Sky in Italy also report Milan are now interested in signing fellow Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka on loan.

Chelsea are having a clear-out in midfield this summer. Mateo Kovacic is nearing a move to Manchester City, while N’Golo Kante has agreed a move to Saudi Arabia to join Al-Ittihad.
