Andrey Santos returned to Mauricio Pochettino’s squad at Cobham on Thursday as they prepared for their FA Cup third round tie against Preston North End.

The 19-year-old was recalled earlier this week from his season-long loan spell at Nottingham Forest after making just two appearances since his temporary summer switch.

Andrey impressed during Chelsea‘s pre-season tour of the United States and was in-demand over the summer, with several clubs chasing the Brazilian teenager. Forest won the race, then managed by Steve Cooper, however it’s a move that hasn’t worked out.

What’s next for Andrey for the rest of the season remains unclear, however Chelsea and the midfielder are working out the best next steps for his development.

In the meantime, he has returned to the pitch at the club’s Cobham training ground as they continued work ahead of their FA Cup clash this weekend.

With his braided hair, Andrey joined in with the session. It’s unlikely he will be involved in the matchday squad whilst he settles back in and his short-term future is decided upon.
