Chelsea complete €37m transfer of Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal
Chelsea have completed the signing of forward Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal on a long-term contract.
The 22-year-old, who scored 12 La Liga goals last season, joins Chelsea on an eight-year contract until June 2031.
Chelsea have agreed to pay Villarreal slightly more than his €35 million release clause in order to pay the deal over a number of instalments.
Jackson becomes the club’s second signing of the summer after Christopher Nkunku, whose £53 million switch from RB Leipzig was confirmed earlier in June.
The Senegal international bolsters the attacking line which will see Armando Broja return in pre-season following an anterior cruciate ligament injury, which ruled him out of the second half of the 2022/23 season.
On his arrival at Stamford Bridge, co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley told the club’s in-house media: “We are excited to welcome Nicolas to Chelsea. He is a young player with big potential, as he showcased for Villarreal last season.
“We believe he is ready for this next step in his career and look forward to him working with our new head coach, Mauricio Pochettino, and his Chelsea teammates.”
Jackson said: “I feel I’m gonna do amazing things here.”
