Christian Pulisic latest: Lyon & AC Milan’s offers, Chelsea stance & 24-year-old’s transfer preference

Christian Pulisic is expected to be on the move this summer and Chelsea have already received two bids.

The 24-year-old, who is out of contract next summer, will be sold by Chelsea having been deemed surplus to requirement, with the club looking to trim their bloated squad considerably.

Mauricio Pochettino, who arrived at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground on Monday morning to begin life as the club’s new head coach, has already seen many high-profile departures, including Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante.

Pulisic has been unable to consistently hit the hoped-for heights since he signed from Borussia Dortmund in 2019. He has scored 26 times and registered 21 assists for Chelsea in 145 appearances in all competitions. Pulisic has won the Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup during his time in west London.

AC Milan have expressed interest in bringing him to the San Siro after completing the initial £15 million transfer of Ruben Loftus-Cheek last week. Meanwhile, Ligue 1 side Lyon have also lodged a bid for the USMNT winger. Chelsea are holding out for a certain valuation, while Pulisic’s transfer preference has now been revealed.

Here is the latest on Christian Pulisic’s Chelsea future amid two fresh bids.

AC Milan and Lyon’s offers

As reported by James Horncastle and David Ornstein of The Athletic, Milan made their first verbal offer of £12 million for Pulisic.

Meanwhile, David Ornstein confirmed Lyon lodged a written offer worth £21.5 million plus a meaningful sell-on clause that is still being negotiated.

Chelsea’s transfer stance

As revealed by David Ornstein, Lyon’s bid of £21.5 million is an offer which Chelsea ‘would find acceptable’ and there is a reluctance to allow him to depart for anything less.

Chelsea signed Pulisic for £57.6 million four years ago. His book value stands at around £11.5 million which the Blues need to collect to break even on his transfer.

Christian Pulisic’s preference

Pulisic’s fate and future will, ultimately, be in his own hands. He has options but only if Milan increase their bid to match or better Lyon’s offer.

As reported by Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard, Pulisic currently favours a move to Milan, meaning the Rossoneri will have to increase their offer if the American lands the transfer he prefers.
