Cole Palmer breaks silence after receiving first England senior call-up following stoppage time Chelsea equaliser vs Man City
Cole Palmer shared his delight at getting called up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the first time.
The 21-year-old has had a brilliant 24 hours: from netting against his former club Manchester City in stoppage time to seal a 4-4 draw for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, to being promoted from the England U21s to the senior set-up.
Palmer, who signed for Chelsea in the summer in a deal worth in excess of £40 million, was initially set to join up with the U21s, however following multiple withdrawals due to injury, the Chelsea winger was, along with Rico Lewis and Ezri Konsa, given the good news.

Hours after confirmation, Palmer took to Instagram to express his happiness, which could see him make his senior England debut against either Malta or North Macedonia in the Euro 2024 qualifiers.
Palmer wrote: “Buzzin.”
Levi Colwill has also been included in the squad for the games later this month. However, he missed Chelsea’s draw against Man City due to a shoulder issue.
The Chelsea defender will be assessed ahead of joining his England teammates as they determine whether he will be available.
Pochettino was about about the centre-back, saying: “I don’t know? Jesus, Levi?”
Chelsea’s press officer jumped in and added: “We’re going to update in the next 24 hours.”
