Joao Felix has offered a glowing verdict on teammate and Brazilian legend Thiago Silva following his temporary switch to Chelsea.

Felix joined Chelsea on loan from Atletico Madrid in January until the end of the season and has made an impressive start to life in London.

The 23-year-old enjoyed a relatively successful spell at his parent club, helping them win a La Liga title in the 2020/21 season.

However, due to falling out of favour with Atleti boss Diego Simeone, the club from the Spanish capital were willing to let the forward leave on loan for the remainder of the season in the January transfer window.

The Portuguese, who arrived with an impressive reputation, has scored twice since his move, dazzling fans with tricks and flicks comparable to that of Eden Hazard.

And speaking on the London is Blue podcast, Chelsea‘s new number 11 revealed which player has surprised him the most in his short time at the club.

“The player that surprised me the most was Thiago Silva. I always knew he’s a top player, but seeing in real life and training with him, you can see he’s very, very, very good.

“So much class, he does everything right. He was the player that impressed me the most.

“Everyone loves him in the club.”

Silva, who joined Chelsea from Paris Saint-Germain in 2020, has left many of the Stamford Bridge faithful echoing Felix’s thoughts since his move, by helping the club lift their third Champions League title in May 2021.

The Brazilian centre back also played a huge part in the club winning both the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup for the first time in its illustrious history in 2021 and 2022 respectively.

And at 38 years of age, the defender doesn’t seem to be showing signs of wilting just yet, having signed a contract extension, tying him to the club for yet another season, much to the joy of everyone connected to Stamford Bridge.

And after making a seemingly natural acclimatisation to life in England so far, it’s safe to assume most Chelsea fans will be hopeful Felix will also commit his future beyond this season to the west London side.
