Enzo Fernandez has pleaded with Chelsea to ensure they do everything to try to sign Joao Felix on a permanent basis this summer.

Felix joined Chelsea on loan last month from Atletico Madrid after the Blues agreed a £9.7 million deal until the end of the season.

There is no option to buy in the deal which would mean an agreement would need to be reached in the summer if Felix was to remain at Stamford Bridge.

The 23-year-old has made four appearances since joining Chelsea, already receiving a red card as well as scoring his first for the club with an exquisite volley in the 1-1 draw against West Ham.

Against West Ham, the assist came from fellow new signing Enzo Fernandez, who signed from Benfica for £106.8 million last month.

Fernandez has settled into life in England well just like Felix and the pair have formed a positive relationship already in the capital, with the duo already going out for dinner as soon as the Argentina completed his deadline day move.

In his first in-depth interview since joining the club, Fernandez opened up on his bond with Felix, who he sits next to on the plane and bus to games, and has asked the club to do all they can to make sure he remains a Chelsea player next season.

“There has been a good connection,” Fernandez told the Daily Telegraph.

“He called me straight away when I got here to ask if he could be of any help. When you get on with someone off the field it helps on the field to have that special connection and relationship on the field too.

“He’s a great player, isn’t he? A fantastic player. He’s got lots of ability and loads of qualities. He’s a key player for us, an important player and he’s on loan. Let’s hope that Chelsea can do all they can to keep hold of him come June, that would be great.”

Whether or not Atletico Madrid would be keen on letting Felix leave this summer remains unclear, however if they were to let the Portugal forward depart, he won’t come cheaply.
