Christian Pulisic could be part of Chelsea’s squad overhaul this summer to begin the club’s refresh of the team after the large number of signings made across the previous two transfer windows.

The 24-year-old has been sidelined since the beginning of January with a knee injury sustained against Manchester City.

Pulisic’s injury saw a January move, which he was open to, away from Chelsea be scuppered as a result amid interest from Manchester United and Newcastle United.

He is out of contract next summer and, as it stands, Chelsea are not planning on renewing Pulisic‘s deal which could therefore see him depart Stamford Bridge this summer after four seasons at the club following his £57.6 million arrival back in 2019 from Borussia Dortmund.

Chelsea have already reportedly started planning for a squad overhaul this summer, with players warned that they are essentially playing for their futures between now and the end of the season.

A number of signings have been made in attack since last summer; Raheem Sterling, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, David Datro Fofana, Joao Felix (loan), Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke have all been acquired, while Christopher Nkunku is set to arrive from RB Leipzig.

It will leave attacking competition at an all-time high and is likely to mean many departures in the forward department.

Hakim Ziyech was on the verge of joining PSG on loan in January before his deal fell through in the final minutes. He is likely to leave this summer.

Pulisic could follow the Morocco international out the door as per reports by Defensa Central in Spain, who claim that Real Madrid is a possible destination for the USMNT star.

It’s suggested that Pulisic likes the Los Blancos, who signed his former teammate Antonio Rudiger on a free transfer last summer.

Pulisic is also nearing a return from injury for Chelsea too, handing head coach Graham Potter a welcome boost in attack.

After joining in during the warm-up sessions at Cobham this week, the winger is expected to return to full training next week ahead of the Premier League clash versus Leeds United.

Prior to their match against Spurs, Potter told reporters: “We’ve had a good week’s training. Everybody is available apart from N’Golo and Christian Pulisic, who are making progress and joining the warm-up. They’ll be more integrated next week.”
